A metallic pipe or cable passes vertically through a concrete slab with a 1-inch nominal annular space. A pipe riser clamp bears on an optional steel plate resting on a 3/4-inch neoprene pad with a 40 durometer rating. The penetration is sealed airtight with fire-rated resilient filler or acoustical sealant as required. Safing batt insulation is packed within the slab opening as required for the specified fire rating.
