Stair geometry is defined by a maximum riser width of seven inches and a minimum tread width of eleven inches. The upper approach landing includes dimensional limits for tactile warnings or nosings, maintaining between two inches and four inches of clearance from the edge. Edge clearances to the wall stringer or stair edge are held to a maximum of two inches.
