An open web steel joist is reinforced with an L2x2x1/4 angle at each side from the concentrated load to the nearest panel point on the opposite chord. The detail accommodates a maximum two-hundred-pound concentrated load per joist span for a maximum three-foot joist depth. Angles are welded with typical three-sixteenths inch fillet welds measuring one and one-half inches. Point loads exceeding those shown or joist depths greater than three feet require review by the engineer.
