A concrete walk is cast over a ninety percent compacted subgrade with a variable thickness specified per plan. An expansion joint incorporates a one-half-inch felt expansion joint material with a one-half-inch sealant on top and tooled one-quarter-inch radius edges. Number five smooth dowels measuring twenty-four inches long are spaced at twenty-four inches on center, wrapped with a bond breaker on one side. Six by six number ten by number ten welded wire mesh is discontinued at the expansion joint. A control joint features a one-quarter-inch deep saw cut with a one-eighth-inch width. Expansion joints are placed at twelve feet on center maximum each way.
