A structural steel ladder column terminates at the roof deck with a one-half inch closure plate welded across the top flange. An L4 x 4 x 1/4 angle brace is attached to each side at the top of the column to provide deck bearing, extending outward to the nearest joist or beam. The angles are secured to the steel column with three-sixteenths inch fillet welds. Roof deck attachment to the angle is provided per structural drawings.
