A future HSS 4x4 galvanized hollow structural section post is welded to an 8x8x3/8 galvanized plate, which is supported by an HSS 4x4x1/2 galvanized stub column welded to the top flange of a W27 wide-flange steel beam. Typical one-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the plates and structural sections together. The top of the plate is set flush with the top of the sloped balcony deck concrete, which is omitted from the drawing for clarity. Locations of the assemblies are coordinated per sheet A8.08.
