A continuous aluminum retainer fastens to the gypsum wallboard of an existing wall using number 6 by one and five-eighths inch heavy duty drywall screws spaced at thirty-two inches on center. A continuous corner guard snaps over the aluminum retainer to protect the wall corner. The overall profile extends three inches from the wall surface.
