This interior wall pilaster detail shows a stepped transition between a promenade and an auditorium space. The assembly is framed with metal studs and finished with one layer of 5/8-inch Type X gypsum board on each side. The lower wall partition incorporates an 8-inch metal stud framing cavity filled with sound-attenuating batt insulation. A 3-5/8-inch metal stud return forms the 9-inch vertical offset step between the two room elevations.
