Sleeved penetrations through slab on grade require specific reinforcement layouts depending on spacing and grouping. For spaced or small group penetrations, typical slab reinforcement remains uninterrupted and is re-spaced to fit as required, maintaining a minimum three-inch clearance and eight-inch maximum spacing with diameters three times larger minimum typically. For grouped penetrations up to two feet six inches maximum and one foot zero inches maximum width, typical slab reinforcement is interrupted at the opening. Additional bars are placed on each side of the opening, sized to match slab reinforcement, and extended forty-eight bar diameters past each end. Structural engineer of record approval is required for groups larger than shown, and no conduit or pipe shall be run in the slab unless otherwise noted.
