A metal stud partition intersects a rated wall assembly, utilizing metal C-H studs and channel studs to frame the connection. The bulkhead incorporates a one-inch Type X gypsum board shaft liner and fiberglass sound batts within the stud cavity for acoustic and fire performance. The intersecting wall and ceiling surfaces are finished with two layers of five-eighths-inch Type X gypsum board on each side. Channel studs anchor the partition framing directly to the adjacent multi-layer wall assembly.
