A suspended ceiling hanger wire connects to a structural steel beam flange using a wide ceiling clip fastened directly to the underside of the flange. The 1 1/2-inch by 1 1/2-inch by 12-gauge wide ceiling clip is anchored to the steel beam with a powder-actuated fastener measuring a minimum of .145 inches in diameter with a minimum 1 1/4-inch embedment. The supporting beam flange thickness must not be less than 3/16 inch. No fasteners are to be installed in the protected zone of any steel member.
