A hollow structural section steel column measuring 6 by 6 inches with a half-inch wall thickness serves as the structural support at the glazing intersection. A fire-treated plywood wrap surrounds the HSS column to meet fire rating requirements. Custom breakmetal enclosures wrap the exterior of the column assembly. Sealant joints seal the junction between the storefront framing and the breakmetal finish.
