A two-inch diameter painted steel pipe rail is welded to vertical supports spaced at a maximum of five feet on center. A one-and-a-quarter to one-and-a-half-inch diameter painted steel handrail is mounted to the vertical picket guardrail panel, which features manufacturer-specified spacing compliant with current codes. The vertical picket panels are framed by one-inch by sixteen-gauge painted steel channels welded to each side of the vertical supports typically. The vertical guardrail supports are welded with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld to a one-quarter by eleven-inch bent plate, which is welded to another bent plate anchored at the concrete slab edge. The concrete slab on metal deck is supported by steel framing with applied fireproofing. The finished floor level sits above the structural steel beam.
