An acoustic partition assembly is built around a structural steel column. The construction consists of 3-5/8 inch metal studs with sound attenuating batt insulation, finished with layers of 5/8 inch Type X gypsum board. Z-furring carries additional layers of gypsum board where acoustic sealing is specified at junctions. The steel column is framed with metal studs and isolated with resilient layers as indicated in the structural drawings.
