The upper latch detail features a five-eighth-inch diameter by eight-inch long steel pin latch with a four-inch long handle, sliding through three three-quarter-inch diameter steel pipe guides measuring one inch long welded to the gate and painted to match. The lower cane bolt detail uses two five-eighth-inch diameter by ten-inch minimum long steel cane bolts with two-inch long handles, guided by three-quarter-inch diameter by two-inch long steel pipes welded to the gate and dropping into sleeves set into the ground. Both assemblies maintain a half-inch clearance gap between the gate leaves and are finished to match the gate coating.
