This interior soffit assembly consists of 3-5/8 inch metal stud framing spaced at 16 inches on center, which is braced to the structure above. The soffit is finished with 5/8 inch Type X gypsum board. The vertical wall face is constructed as scheduled, with the soffit height and width determined by the reflected ceiling plan.
