The assembly features a framed opening capped with a painted metal panel lintel at the exterior corner. A self-adhered membrane head strip wraps into the rough opening, sealing to the frame and back angle, and laps under the vapor barrier or gypsum board. The plaster wall finish is applied over the substrate, with sealant and backer rod installed at the joint between the plaster and the metal lintel, incorporating weeps for drainage. A field-applied self-adhered membrane is lapped over the head strip and metal flashing, with typical air seals provided at the interior interface.
