Interior cold-formed metal stud partition head details terminate at concrete slabs, metal decking, and suspended gypsum board ceilings. A long-leg slotted metal track is provided at the top of the wall with a half-inch clearance for vertical movement, keeping gypsum board and metal studs unattached to the top track. Two-inch by twenty-gauge metal strapping is attached with powder-actuated fasteners staggered at twenty-four inches on center at the metal decking and concrete topping condition. UL-listed smoke fire seal is applied per specifications at rated conditions where required. Horizontal metal stud wall braces are secured to the top of the wall track at forty-five-degree angles with two number eight sheet metal screws typically on each side. Single-ply type X gypsum wallboard is applied to the studs with bugle head screws spaced per fire resistance design manuals.
