An exterior plaster soffit return assembly is detailed with an 8-inch metal stud backup wall at 16 inches on center containing 8-inch batt insulation, faced with glass-mat gypsum sheathing board. The exterior surface receives an extruded polystyrene foam-plastic board insulation layer, a weather barrier, and a cement plaster finish coat. The soffit consists of 3-5/8-inch suspended metal studs at 16 inches on center with 3-5/8-inch batt insulation, finished with cement plaster and protected by a cornerbead at the external edge.
