Reinforcing bars designated as number four are placed at a typical distance of one and one-half inches from the opening perimeter. Bars along the sides of openings smaller than two feet zero inches are omitted per the drawing note. A minimum distance of two feet six inches is maintained for the opening layout. Openings larger than two feet zero inches square require perimeter support and approval by the structural engineer of record.
