A plumbing pipe passes through a structural element with a two-inch clearance from an adjacent gypsum board partition. The pipe is contained within a sleeve assembly specified for acoustic isolation. Pipes with a diameter of one inch or smaller require an Acoustolator or Acoustoclamp High Ear. Pipes with a diameter of one and one-quarter inches or larger require a Trisolator manufactured by Elmdor/Stoneman Engineering.
