A metal stud wall with a backing plate substrate is faced with a backer board set in polyurethane sealant and wrapped in a waterproofing membrane, backed by a six-mil vapor barrier lapped over the waterproofed shower pan. The concrete slab receives a slurry bond coat where necessary, a sixteen-gauge two-inch by two-inch welded galvanized steel mesh, and a sloped mortar bed covered by a Hydro Ban waterproofing membrane. Tile is set in medium bed mortar with epoxy grout and sloped toward a linear drain, with a one-eighth-inch sealant joint with backer rod and a Schluter cove strip at the wall-floor transition.
