An accessible rear wall grab bar is installed behind the water closet with specific vertical and horizontal mounting clearances. The grab bar is positioned at thirty-three to thirty-six inches above the finished floor to the top of the gripping surface. Horizontally, the bar extends a minimum of twenty-four inches on the transfer side and twelve inches on the opposite side from the centerline of the water closet, or measures seventeen to eighteen inches minimum from the side wall to the end of the bar. A vertical clearance of twelve inches minimum is maintained between the top of the grab bar and any adjacent obstructions.
