The head of a non-rated metal stud partition is anchored to an overhead concrete over metal deck floor. A deflection track featuring two-and-a-half-inch legs receives the wall studs and is secured on both sides with number ten sheet metal screws. A minimum two-inch wide sixteen gauge metal strap spans the floor flutes at twenty-four inches on center, overlapping the flutes by at least one and one-half inches on both sides. Two powder-actuated Hilti X-U pins with a minimum one-and-one-quarter-inch embedment anchor each end of the strap into the concrete. Two number ten self-tapping screws attach the strap to the metal deck flute. Batt insulation fills the stud cavity per the partition schedule, and gypsum board is secured to studs below the deflection track per project notes.
