A sheet metal coping joint for wide applications utilizes a double S-cleat sheet metal cover plate secured with fasteners spaced at a maximum of six inches on center on one side only. The assembly is installed over a self-adhering membrane or roof membrane applied directly to the underlying substrate. Dimensional requirements include specific minimum clearances such as one-half inch, three-quarters of an inch, and one inch margins across the joint components.
