This balcony door head detail features a backup wall assembly tied to an intermittent window attachment clip set in a continuous line of silicone sealant and air barrier seal. An insulated glazed unit is installed below with a silicone sealant heel bead at the interior perimeter and a one-half-inch silicone sealant joint over a backer rod at the window perimeter. Prefinished metal head flashing with a hemmed drip edge and an insect screen ties into the assembly. The exterior is clad in glass-reinforced concrete panels supported by Cascadia clips and one-and-three-quarter-inch vertical metal Z-girts. A weather-resistive barrier membrane is integrated with liquid-applied flashing prestrips and additional liquid-applied flashing over sheet metal flashings to conceal fasteners, which are secured with two rows of sheet metal screws into the vertical metal Z-girts.
