An interior wall control joint assembly spans both one-hour and two-hour fire-rated metal stud partitions. The gap between framing members is bridged by a vinyl or metal control joint with a one-half inch nominal width. For the one-hour assembly, a single layer of five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board is fastened to the metal studs with one and five-eighths inch Type S screws spaced at twenty-four inches on center, backed by an additional layer of five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board on the interior framing. The two-hour assembly incorporates two layers of five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board on both sides of the metal studs, secured with one and five-eighths inch Type S screws spaced at twenty-four inches on center. Corresponding fire test listings are designated as WHI-647-3024 for the one-hour rating and WHI-651-0318.1 for the two-hour rating.
