A metallic pipe or conduit penetrates a one- or two-hour rated gypsum board wall assembly without a sleeve. Firestop sealant is applied at the annular space on both sides of the wall. The wall assembly consists of metal studs with gypsum board layers on each side, conforming to UL system number W-L-1001.
