This trench detail outlines the bedding, backfill, and structural support requirements for storm sewer installations, accommodating pipe diameters both smaller and greater than forty-eight inches. A minimum of four inches to one foot of three-quarter-inch crushed stone extends across the bottom of the trench and up the sides to the edge of the trench, providing stable pipe bedding. The pipe rests on this crushed stone foundation with specific clearances, including a one-foot minimum bedding depth for PVC pipes. Suitable approved backfill or compacted soil per the Unified Soil Classification System fills the remainder of the trench in lifts. Temporary or permanent support is provided as required along the trench edges.
