Two layers of five-eighths-inch gypsum board are applied to two sides of steel studs spaced at sixteen inches on center. A sound attenuation blanket fills the stud cavity, and sealant is applied to both sides at the ceiling deck junction. Steel studs extend up to the metal deck above for fire-rated assembly UL 419. An alternate partition condition shows five-eighths-inch gypsum board on one side of steel studs at sixteen inches on center extending to the deck with a six-inch clearance to the ceiling.
