A steel bar joist bears on a column with a plate measuring 4 inches by 1/4 inch by 0 feet 9 inches welded with a 3/16-inch fillet weld. Two 3/4-inch diameter A307 bolts secure the assembly at joists directly adjacent to each side of the column, applied only if no joists land at the column per the roof manufacturer. A wood nailer and plywood sheathing sit atop the structure. Welded girder braces are installed as required by the manufacturer to brace the girder, with welds applied as per the Steel Joist Institute.
