An electrical junction box is installed within a rated interior partition containing batt insulation. A quarter-inch gap around the box perimeter is filled with acoustic sealant. The outlet is sealed airtight using fire-rated putty pads or similar approved products, tested to ASTM E814 and UL263 standards. Outlets on opposite sides of the wall must maintain a sixteen-inch minimum separation. Low-voltage devices are installed in boxes, and ceiling conditions follow similar installation rules.
