Partial height metal stud partition configurations include corner intersections and base plate connections. A 4x4 by 1/4 inch hollow structural section tube steel column is anchored by a 7 by 8 by 1/2 inch thick base plate utilizing four 1/2 inch diameter Simpson Strong-Bolt anchors with a 2.75 inch minimum embedment set over non-shrink grout. Six-inch metal studs frame the partition, tied with intermittent blocking and metal backing straps screwed to each stud. Lateral bridging is spaced throughout the wall height, and straps are provided on both sides of studs where gypsum board occurs on one side only.
