A metal corner guard measuring two by two inches is installed at the external corner of a gypsum board wall over finish materials. Countersunk fasteners secure the guard through the gypsum board into the underlying framing. Metal runner tracks and mineral fiber blanket insulation are incorporated within the wall cavity behind the gypsum board finish.
