A one-eighth-inch wide soff-cut joint is provided in the top of the slab, cut to a depth of one-quarter of the slab thickness with a one-inch maximum and a one-inch clearance to reinforcement. The joint is installed within twenty-four hours of the pour and filled with sealant as required. Suffix notes specify joint spacing limits of thirteen feet zero inches on center for five-inch slabs and fifteen feet zero inches on center for six-inch or thicker slabs, with continuous joints stopping only at perpendicular intersections.
