A 1-1/2 inch by 3/4 inch steel post connects to a 1 inch by 3/8 inch steel bar welded below a steel plate above. Fillet welds of 3/16 inch size secure the steel bar to the steel plate, with a field weld indicated by a 1/8 inch fillet weld and weld-all-around symbol. The assembly supports the line of the wood handrail above as indicated by dashed projection lines.
