A shaftwall assembly intersects a composite floor slab consisting of a fluted metal deck filled with concrete over a steel beam with spray-on fireproofing. The shaftwall framing utilizes steel C-H studs with sound batt insulation, faced on one side with a J-runner set to the beam before fireproofing and one inch Type X gypsum board liner panels secured by zero-point-one-four-five by one-half inch power-actuated fasteners spaced twenty-four inches on center or by an equivalent weld. The opposite shaft side is finished with two layers of five-eighths inch Type X gypsum board.
