A lap joint assembly for a single-ply or modified bituminous roof system over rigid insulation and roof sheathing supported by structural framing. A fastener and fastener plate secure the underlying edge, maintaining a one-half-inch minimum clearance. The reinforced membrane overlaps the fastening point with a one-and-a-half-inch minimum overlap distance and is sealed with a bead of sealant installed per the manufacturer recommendations.
