Cold-formed steel stud framing connects to an unfilled metal deck overhead with a specified minimum one-half inch clearance from the top of the stud to the deck underside. In the perpendicular orientation, the track secures to the metal deck flute using number eight screws spaced at two feet on center and two inches from the ends, with staggered placement. In the parallel orientation, a strap connects across the deck flute using number eight screws on each side centered on the flute. Track framing matches Detail A in both configurations.
