A flat guardrail mounts horizontally in front of an elevator wall finish designated as EL1. The guardrail measures two inches in height and sits one and one-half inches clear of the elevator wall finish surface. A guardrail support spans the one-inch gap between the back of the rail and the wall. All components receive the specified EL1 finish.
