This one-hour fire-resistant smoke barrier partition detail shows the head of a gypsum board partition intersecting a concrete floor or roof slab over fluted steel deck. A continuous twenty-two gauge minimum three-inch deep leg deflection track is attached to the deck at twelve inches on center maximum using powder-driven fasteners. Gypsum board and studs are left unattached to the deflection track in the specified area. Mineral wool insulation fills the gap between the slab and the top of the wall, and spray-applied firestop material is applied with a minimum two-inch overlap onto sprayed fire-resistive material and one-half inch onto the wall. Continuous metal straps provide top attachment for the gypsum board, and a metal plate is installed at deck flute recesses when the partition aligns with the flute.
