A structural column base plate and anchor bolt assembly is secured to a concrete pedestal. Eight 2-1/4 inch diameter mild steel hot-dipped galvanized anchor bolts are positioned around the octagonal base plate in pairs, with a minimum 12 inch projection threaded full length. Each bolt utilizes three extra heavy duty nuts and extra heavy washers at both the top and bottom of the plate. A layer of non-shrink grout with a minimum compressive strength of 5,000 PSI is installed beneath the base plate per the manufacturer's instructions. Protective coatings on the base plate must be removed under the nuts and washers prior to installation, and exposed anchor rods and nuts are finished with a two-part epoxy exterior paint after the final torque is set.
