A maximum 24-inch by 48-inch steel duct rated number 24 gauge or heavier penetrates a 12-inch CMU wall assembly. The annular space is filled with packing material and finished with a minimum 5/8-inch thick sealant flush with both sides of the wall. Steel retaining angles anchor against both faces of the masonry assembly. This assembly complies with U.L. System No. W-J-7021 for 1-hour and 2-hour fire ratings.
