A 3-5/8 inch by 18-gauge diagonal wall brace extends from the top track of a non-bearing steel stud wall up to the overhead structure at approximately 45 degrees on center at 8 feet. The brace connects to the wall top track using a formed clip shoe secured with three screws on each flange. At the overhead structure, the brace provides options for attachment: securing four screws into the lowest portion of the corrugated metal deck without penetrating the roofing, fastening four screws into the bottom chords of a steel joist, or anchoring with four powder-actuated fasteners into a deep leg track. The assembly stabilizes top-of-wall conditions against lateral forces.
