An existing structural steel column is boxed out with one and five-eighths inch twenty-five gauge steel studs sized per structural drawings. One layer of Sheetrock Firecode C core panels is attached to frame the enclosure per UL design X528. One-and-one-quarter-inch leg corner beads are secured to the wallboard using number six by one-inch screws. The complete assembly achieves a one-hour fire rating in accordance with UL design X528.
