This non-rated acoustic partition type 05N1A extends from the top of the slab to the underside of the steel deck or slab above. The assembly consists of 3 5/8-inch by 20-gauge steel studs spaced at 24 inches on center with one layer of 5/8-inch gypsum board on each side. A 3 1/2-inch mineral fiber insulation is friction-fit within the stud cavity, achieving an STC rating of 45 to 49 per GA 600 WP 1081. Limiting height guidelines at 5 pounds per square foot per SSMA are 15 feet 3 inches for L/240 and 13 feet 4 inches for L/360, with requirements to verify the limiting height with the framing manufacturer.
