The lightning rod base is secured to the membrane roof assembly using fasteners per the manufacturer's specifications. The base plate is set over a layer of roofing primer and sealed with a continuous bead of high-grade urethane sealant or manufacturer-approved sealant. A pourable sealer is applied over the base plate and fasteners to ensure a watertight transition to the roofing membrane. The ground wire connects to the lightning rod assembly as specified in the project notes.
