This plan detail shows a steel guardrail and handrail assembly at a stair landing with vertical guardrail posts positioned relative to the riser line and the front edge of the tread below. A four and a half inch flat plate is welded on top of a bent closure plate to provide support for the balusters. The spacing between balusters, and between guardrails and balusters, is maintained at a maximum of four inches on center. Bottom rails of guardrails and the top guardrail pipe align with the landing geometry.
