Galvanized steel pipe guardrails and handrails are embedded into concrete slabs at landings and ramps with two-inch diameter by twelve-inch long steel pipe inserts cored into the concrete. The vertical steel pipe posts measure one and a half inches in diameter and are spaced at six feet zero inches on center maximum. Horizontal rails are spaced with varying vertical dimensions including five and three-quarter inches, five and a half inches, and four and three-quarter inches, with intermediate rails spaced at less than four inches typical. Side reinforcing consists of number four by twenty-four-inch bars at each post. All exterior stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals are specified to be galvanized, with all welds ground smooth.
