A cast-iron roof drain assembly is set into a premanufactured tapered insulation sump installed over the roofing assembly and metal deck. Compatible sealant is applied between the drain bowl flange and the roof membrane where the clamping ring compresses the assembly. The roof membrane features a round hole cut at the drain that extends at least one inch past the clamping ring and remains larger than the pipe diameter. An air barrier is flashed and sealed directly to the drain body.
